- Available on all plans
Home-level layouts provide several options for refining the data shown in the view:
- Apply quick filters (requires admin configuration)
- Apply object filters and create layout views
- Pin home layout views
Apply quick filters
Quick filters allow you to use pre-configured data points to filter the entire layout. A quick filter often represents multiple fields across objects that related to each other; rather than individually selecting each field from each object on which to filter, the quick filter is at the ready!
Set up quick filters (admins)
Quick filters are powered by field associations, which tells Catalyst which fields across objects relate to each other OR have the same values as outputs. Common use cases include:

Watch this video to see how to configure quick filters on home layouts.
Before you start, make sure that you have associated Catalyst users with their respective Salesforce user accounts on the Settings > Users page.
- From the left nav bar, click on the Settings icon.
- Under Data, click Field Associations.
- Click + Add New Field Association.
- Enter a name for the field association; this will be used as the name of the quick filter on home layouts.
- Choose the fields to associate (one per object).
Important notes:- There are no limits for field associations, but you must associate at least two fields across two objects.
- Fields can only be associated if they have the same data type. Supported data types include picklist, reference fields, date, and true/false.
- If you associate pick list fields that do not have the same values, Catalyst merges the values into one large list from which users can choose. When a value is selected, Catalyst filters down the object module that uses that value.
- Users will not be able to use a a quick filter if they do not have permission to read all of the fields added to the field association.
- Click Save.
The filter will be immediately available to use on all home layouts.
Apply quick filters to a home layout
Once a quick filter is configured, it is available to use on any home layout view.
- From the Catalyst home page, open a layout.
- Click the Filters button to see available quick filters. Choose the value you want to use for each quick filter.
Skip the filters button if the quick filter you want to use is pinned to the top of the layout. Admins can pin up to 5 quick filters to each layout for easy access.
Catalyst looks for a corresponding object field from the association and filters the view accordingly. The quick filter(s) applied will be removed when you navigate away from the view.
Apply object filters and create layout views
Home layouts can include modules from different objects. Object filters allow you to apply advanced filters for each object that is present on the layout. If you're the layout owner or an admin, you can also save these selections for quick access in a home layout view.
- From the Catalyst home page, open a layout.
- Click the Filters button, and choose Object Filters.
All objects that are present in a layout become available as a drop-down. - Click one of the objects to search for a field that you'd like to apply as the filter condition; example: "Health is At Risk."
As soon as you add the filter, the list of records automatically updates in the background. For each object, the number of filters applied is indicated.
- Continue adding more filters as needed for each object:
- Apply other relational operators to compare values within a condition.
- Apply logical operators (AND/OR) and filter groupings to combine conditions.
- Optionally click Hide Object Filters to remove them from the layout view.
The object filter(s) applied will be removed when you navigate to another layout, unless you save your selections as a view. See additional steps, if permissions allow.
- If you're the layout owner or an admin, click Save as New Layout View.
Home layout views are particularly helpful to avoid having your teams manually select multiple object filters every time they visit the layout.
- Provide a name and description, and click Save View.
Everyone on the team can access home layout views to quickly toggle between different object filter configurations on the view.
Pin home layout views
Layout owners and admins can save object filter selections to create a new home layout view. Pinned views appear as the default view when accessing the layout; it's a great way to immediately land on the most relevant view of a home layout.
- From the Catalyst home page, open a layout.
- Choose an available view. (Views appear nested within the layout sidebar and in a drop-down menu next to the selected layout's name.)
If an admin has pinned a view for the entire company, the selected view appears as the default view for the layout. Members cannot unpin a view that has been pinned for the entire company.
- Click the pin icon to pin or unpin the view for yourself.
Admins can optionally pin or unpin the view for the entire company.
FAQs
Q: The filtering is off for my quick filter associations; not every module is showing the correct users. What is wrong?
A: If you are seeing this happen on modules built off of Salesforce objects, check if the Catalyst user is correctly associated to their respective Salesforce user accounts on the Settings > Users page. You can find out more on how to do that here: Catalyst <> Salesforce User Association.
Q: Do pinned quick filters stay on all views of a layout?
A: Yes! Quick filters are tied to the layout, not the view.
Q: Which modules will update to reflect a selected quick filter?
A: Segment and aggregate modules will update, but global filters do not apply to trend modules.
