Add a trends module

Who can use this feature?

  • All roles with access level "standard" or higher
  • Available on all plans

The trends module allows you to graph the history of a numeric field over time, aggregated across a segment of records.

Trend modules are historic snapshots of data that update once a day. Unlike segment modules and aggregate modules, trend modules do not display data in real-time. Each day, data is aggregated at several points throughout the day, with the last one occurring around 5 PM UTC. The next day, the data in the module is updated to display the last available snapshot taken from the previous day. 

Suggested uses

Consider the following use cases to empower your teams.

  1. Contract revenue trend: Show the changes in a segment's total contract revenue by renewal date
  2. Product metrics: Track a usage metric's changes over the last 90 days for a specific group of accounts or grouped by a demographic field (region, country, organization size, industry)
  3. ARR by customer journey: ARR by health or journey stage, current time (area graph) or over time (stacked bar chart or area chart)
  4. Renewal forecasting: Upcoming contract renewals by quarter
  5. Health tracking: Number of accounts in a health segment grouped by CSM, over a period of time or for a specific quarter

Add a trends module to a new or existing layout

You can add the trends module to any home layout that you own. Admins can add modules to all layouts. 

  1. From the tree menu of any Home page, click + New Layout to create a new layout from scratch, or click to edit an existing layout > Add Module.
  2. Enter a name for your new module.
  3. From the list of module types, click Trends.
  4. Choose the segment you want to use (or create a new one on the fly).

    Available segment types include account, opportunity, contact, note, task, Jira, Zendesk, and additional object. 

  5. Set the remaining module properties:
    • Field to graph: Choose the primary field to include in the graph.
    • Group by: Optionally choose an additional field to group by.
    • Aggregation type: Choose how you want to calculate the selected field to graph (e.g., total, average, minimum, maximum).
      Aggregation is not available for text field types.
    • Timeframe: Choose current time or choose a specific timeframe to show trend (e.g., last 7-30-90 days, quarter to date, year to date, or custom time frame).
      Timeframes for quarters or years are not adjustable. Quarterly date ranges begin on January (Q1), April (Q2), July (Q3), and October (Q4).
    • Graphs: Choose the type of graph to use (e.g., bar, table, pie, line).
      The types of graphs vary depending on field type and timeframe chosen.
    The visualization preview appears on the right and updates in real time as you define the module properties. You can switch between visualization types as you edit.
  6. Click Add Module to add the module to the layout.
  7. Click Save Changes to save the layout.
