An embedded module allows you to view embedded content from an external resource.
Suggested uses
Consider the following use cases to empower your teams.
- Welcome video: Have a welcome video for your teams? Embed it directly on a home page layout
- BI data: Using a BI tool like Looker? Add a public look with relevant metrics for your team
Add an embedded module to a new or existing layout
You can add the embedded module to any home or object-level layout that you own. Admins can add modules to all layouts.
- From the tree menu of any Home page or object level layout (account, opportunity, or contact record), click + New Layout to create a new layout from scratch, or click to edit an existing layout > Add Module.
- Enter a name for your new module.
- From the list of module types, click Embedded.
- Choose the source provider.
- Enter the URL or embed code from the selected source.
Embed URLs are created and controlled by each source provider. Refer to the quick steps below, or refer to each tool's source documentation for further support.
The preview appears on the right.
- Click Add Module to add the module to the layout.
- Click Save Changes to save the layout.
Find the embed URL for supported sources
Catalyst follows visibility parameters and privacy settings set by the source tool. If a source dashboard is set to private and requires a login, the source dashboard will load only if the Catalyst user is logged into the source tool. At this time, Catalyst does not support self-hosted instances. The domain structure for sources is typically https://{INSTANCE_NAME}.source.com/
.
Tableau
- Navigate to your Home Dashboard in Tableau.
- Find your desired dashboard on your Tableau home layout.
- Click on the [...] button, and select Share.
- Copy the URL from the Share Using a Link box. At the end of the URL, be sure that
?:embed=y
\ is listed at the end or enter it manually.
Looker
- Within Looker, navigate to the dashboard you would like to embed in Catalyst. Click on the Settings button, and click Preview Embed.
- In the Preview Embed view, copy the URL from the address bar. Refer to this documentation for
