Add a historical trends module to a new or existing layout
You can add the trends module to any object-level layout that you own. Admins can add modules to all layouts.
- From the tree menu of an object-level layout, click + New Layout to create a new layout from scratch, or click to edit an existing layout > Add Module.
- Enter a name for your new module.
- From the list of module types, click Historical Trends.
- Set the module properties:
-
[Object] field to graph: Choose the object-level field to include in the graph.
All fields are supported, except Salesforce formula fields.
-
Timeframe: Choose the historical time frame to show trend (last days, weeks, months, or quarters).
The look-back period is up to 365 days. Calculated field values are not backfilled and will only show values since the day the field was created. Fiscal year is respected for quarters if configured by your CS representative. - Timeframe interval: For timeframes other than days, choose the x-axis time aggregation for the selected timeframe.
-
Aggregation type: Choose how you want the timeframe interval toggle to aggregate data on the selected field (e.g., sum, min, max, average, last value in period).
Non-numeric fields only support the "last value in period" aggregation type. For example, "Jul 22" would show a value as of July 31 2022. -
Visualization type: Choose the type of visualization to use (e.g., line chart, table).
Line chart is available for numeric and single picklist field types. - Sort order: For table visualizations, choose the order in which to sort values (earliest value first, most recent value first).
- Field to Compare: For line chart visualizations with a numeric field type, optionally choose a secondary field for comparison on the chart.
- Goal: For line chart visualizations, optionally set the value to use as the target threshold (appears as a dashed line).
-
[Object] field to graph: Choose the object-level field to include in the graph.
- Click Add Module to add the module to the layout.
For numeric data types, hover over points in the chart to see field change % deltas.
- Click Save Changes to save the layout.
