Create and manage layouts

Who can use this feature?

Layouts refer to the ways in which you can see data about accounts, contacts, and opportunities—either at the home or object levels. If your permissions allow, you can create your own layouts to share with your team.

Supported modules

Layouts are often referred to as dashboards due to their visual and modular nature—mix and match different modules to tell your data's story.

The available module types vary by home or object levels:

Create a new layout

You can add multiple modules to a layout. Use dividers and module groups to arrange modules and provide important context.

  1. From the tree menu of any Home page or object level layout (account, opportunity, or contact record), click + New Layout.
The Add Module window appears with module options relevant to the level. This will be the first module in your new layout.
  2. Enter a name for the module, and then choose the module type.
Hover over each module type to see a preview.
  3. Depending on the module type, complete the properties for how you want the module to appear. (Refer to the above table to configure specific properties per module type.)
  4. When finished with module configuration, click Add Module.
  5. Continue adding modules to your layout (+Add Module or Duplicate Module).
  6. Arrange and resize the modules. Add module groups and dividers as needed:
    • Module group: Choose a background color and subtitle for the group. Add multiple modules in the group as needed.
    • Divider: Add rich text content to the divider and format text as needed (e.g., headings, bullets, etc.). Dividers also support hyperlinks to help your team with important context.

  7. When finished editing, add a name for your module, and then choose a layout goal (optional).

A layout goal summarizes how you plan to use the layout for (e.g., forecast revenue, review a set of accounts, manage renewals, etc.). This data point helps Catalyst personalize your experience and is reported back to the product team to inform product enhancements.

  8. Click Save Changes.
New layouts are saved within the "All Layouts" section of the level in which they're created. If you are not an admin, the layout is also automatically added to your "Favorites" section.

Change layout share permissions

By default, new home or object-level layouts are public to everyone in your Catalyst instance. The layout creator and admins can change the share permissions to make them private and optionally select which user can view.

  1. From the layout tree view or with the layout selected, click the options button (three dots), and click Share Permissions.
  2. Adjust the permission:
    • Public: Accessible by everyone in your organization
    • Private: Accessible by only you, admins, and any named user specified.

Private layouts are denoted with a lock icon next the layout name. Private layouts cannot be duplicated. If a team member has access to a private layout but does not have read permissions on certain fields in the layout, that field will not be visible within a segment (for that user).

  3. Click Save.

Edit or delete a layout

The layout creator and admins have edit and delete permissions for a layout.

  1. From the layout tree view or with the layout selected, click the options button (three dots).

If you don't have this button, you do not have edit permissions for the selected layout.

  2. Admins and the layout creator can:
  3. Only admins can:
