Who can use this feature?
- All roles with access level "high"
- Available on all plans
A Mixpanel integration allows your team to stream your customers' usage events to Catalyst. Once connected, Catalyst teams can:
- Use calculated fields to create engagement benchmarks (e.g. MAU, WAU) to understand customer behavior
- Create expansion indicators based on customer product usage
- Get a richer picture of renewal risk by enriching health score with usage data
- Run usage playbooks and measure their impact
- Automatically move customers to the next stage in Journey Builder when product adoption stage goals are met
Connect your Mixpanel account
Connect your Mixpanel and Catalyst accounts using a Mixpanel project secret.
Mixpanel integration with Catalyst requires a non-free Mixpanel plan type.
- Within Mixpanel, select the project you want to use for the integration.
- Click Settings > Project Settings.
- Copy the API secret.
- Within Catalyst, navigate to Settings > Integrations.
- Locate Mixpanel from the list of inactive integrations, and click + Add.
- Paste the API project secret, and choose the project time zone into the Mixpanel Project Secret field.
Start typing
los_angeles
for west coast andnew_york
for east coast. - Click Add Integration.
Your data will begin syncing to Catalyst (see below). The initial load time ranges, depending on the amount of historical data to process. Further manipulate Mixpanel data with calculated fields.
Map Mixpanel events to Catalyst fields
After you have connected Mixpanel to Catalyst, you can begin mapping events to Catalyst using product usage calculated fields at the account and contact object-level.
How Mixpanel integration works
- Catalyst supports Mixpanel events, excluding custom or virtual events
- Events are matched to your customer accounts and contacts in Catalyst using email address and email domain
- Catalyst syncs events on an hourly basis, but the data may take 3-5 hours to be visible within Catalyst
- Catalyst does not currently create new contact records on the contact object for any unmatched contacts
- Catalyst ingests all of your Mixpanel historic data; access to your data look-back depends on the calculated field (“Product Events” object type) configuration
