A Pendo integration allows your team to stream your customers' usage events to Catalyst. Once connected, Catalyst teams can:
- Use calculated fields to create engagement benchmarks (e.g. MAU, WAU) to understand customer behavior
- Create expansion indicators based on customer product usage
- Get a richer picture of renewal risk by enriching Health Score with usage data
- Run usage playbooks and measure their impact
- Automatically move customers to the next stage in Journey Builder when product adoption stage goals are met
Connect your Pendo account
Connect your Pendo and Catalyst accounts using a Pendo integration key.
Pendo integration with Catalyst requires a Pendo Growth plan or higher tier. You must have Pendo admin permissions and integration key access.
- Within Pendo, navigate to Settings > Integrations > Integrations Keys.
- Click ‘+ Add Integration Key’.
- Enter a description, and click Create.
Catalyst does not require you to allow write access in the key. - Securely capture they key to use within Catalyst.
- Within Catalyst, navigate to Settings > Integrations.
- Locate Pendo from the list of inactive integrations, and click + Add.
- Select your Pendo region:
- US - https://app.pendo.io
- US1 - https://app1.pendo.io
- EU - https://app.eu.pendo.io
- Enter your integration key, and click Authenticate.
- When authenticated, set your preferred Pendo matching logic at the Catalyst object level.
You must match on either the contact or account object. It's highly recommended you match on both so you can gather full insights on both objects.
- Click Save Fields.
Pendo events start syncing after you map them to Catalyst fields (see below).
Map Pendo events to Catalyst fields
After you have connected Pendo to Catalyst, you can begin mapping events to Catalyst using product usage calculated fields at the account and contact object-level.
Catalyst does not currently support mapping NPS data directly from Pendo; however, if you have that data flowing from Pendo➡Salesforce, you can instead use synced fields to map NPS fields between Salesforce and Catalyst.
How Pendo integration works
- Catalyst supports the following Pendo call types to Catalyst: Feature, Guide, Page, and Event, including Track Events that are customized by your team
- Fields from Pendo (visitor or account) must be matched with a Catalyst field (contact or account) in order to sync; unmatched events will not appear in Catalyst
- Catalyst syncs events on an hourly basis, but the data may take 3-5 hours to be visible within Catalyst
- Catalyst does not currently create new contact records on the contact object for any unmatched contacts
- Catalyst ingests all of your Pendo historic data; access to your data look-back depends on the calculated field (“Product Events” object type) configuration
