Who can use this feature?
- All roles with access level "high"
- Available on all plans
A Jira integration allows your teams to closely track Jira issues associated with your Catalyst accounts. Once connected, Catalyst teams can:
- Associate Catalyst accounts to Jira issues from within Catalyst or Jira
- View all issues on an account and contact object-level default views (Jira Issues) or layouts that contain segment modules (Jira Issues object)
- Click into issues to see details
- Comment on the activity stream on any issue within Catalyst
- Use the Explore Data page to view all issues for all accounts (Jira Issues object)
Connect your Jira account
The Jira integration with Catalyst uses the Atlassian Connect app framework. Certain steps must be completed from the Jira admin page; contact your Jira admin for assistance.
This integration supports both "Classic" and "Next-Gen" Jira projects.
We support both Cloud and Cloud Data Center versions of Jira, but not on-premise.
- Contact your Catalyst CS or support representative to get the App Descriptor URL.
- In Jira, navigate to Jira App Settings. (Your Jira admin will need to navigate to the Jira App Settings to manage your Jira Marketplace Apps.)
- From the Manage Apps page, enter the App Settings to Enable Private Listings.
- When you click refresh, you will notice a new Upload App link. This button will allow you to input the App Descriptor URL that Catalyst provided.
- Once the app has been added to your Jira instance select Get Started within Atlassian.
You will be prompted to add a verification code. - In Catalyst, navigate to Settings > Integrations.
- Locate Jira from the list of inactive integrations, and click + Add.
- Copy the Verification Code that you see on the Jira integration page.
Select Start Setup within Catalyst if no verification code is displayed.
- Enter the Verification Code in Jira.
- Once the verification code is entered, navigate back to Catalyst and refresh to confirm the installation is complete (see more details).
If you must re-authenticate, you may be prompted for a new verification code. When prompted, please reach out to Catalyst Support to complete the process for you.
Add Jira projects to Catalyst
You can add one or more Jira projects that you'd like to use in Catalyst.
- Once the integration setup is complete, refresh your Catalyst instance.
The Integration page in Catalyst should show an Add Project icon. - Click Add Project to select and add Jira projects to your team’s Catalyst instance.
Map Jira issue fields to Catalyst
Optionally map additional Jira fields to Catalyst.
- Navigate to Settings > Object Configuration.
- Click on the Jira Issues object.
- Click +Add Field.
- Select a Jira field to sync to Catalyst from Jira.
How Jira integration works
- Catalyst syncs with Jira every two hours.
- The time it takes for the initial sync depends on the amount of historical data. The initial sync pulls in up to 6 months of historic project data.
- If a Jira issue has been updated within the past 6 months, it will be pulled into Catalyst.
- Accounts are not automatically assigned to Jira issues within Catalyst; your team must manually associate accounts in Catalyst: Individually from the Jira issues detail view or via multi-select from a segment view
- Once an issue has been synced to Catalyst, you can also view the Catalyst account info from within Jira (via Catalyst Subscribed Accounts widget). From this widget, you can search for and associate Catalyst accounts.
If a Jira issue has not yet synced to Catalyst, the widget will display a loading message.
