Who can use this feature?
- All roles with access level "high"
- Available on all plans
After integrating with Salesforce to sync records from primary objects (account, opportunity, contact), you can add additional Salesforce objects for bi-directional sync with Catalyst.
Common additional Salesforce objects include:
- Conversations
- Cases
- Opportunities
- Survey responses
You can add up to 5 additional objects, up to 100,000 records per object. Big Objects and application widgets are not supported.
What you can do with additional objects
Additional objects function similar to account, opportunity, and contact objects. Once added to Catalyst, you can:
- Explore and search for additional object records
- View and edit object record fields (added as an additional view at the object-level)*
- Create and manage object segments
- Use additional object segments in aggregate and segment modules
- Create playbooks on additional objects
- Reference additional object contacts in playbook emails*
- Create calculated fields on additional objects*
- Add fields from your data warehouse integration to an additional object
*Also requires you to map a primary reference field.
Add an additional object
Once a Salesforce connection is configured, you can bring any custom Salesforce object that is available via the permissions inherited from the "integration user."
- From the Settings sidebar, click Object Configuration.
- Click + Add New Object.
- In the window (Step 1), choose the Salesforce object you want to add.
- Optionally add a data filter to sync a particular sub-set of records in that object.
- Choose the record deletion policy to use.
- Click Next.
- In the window (Step 2), choose whether to add new fields in Catalyst for. Fields can be synced to Salesforce or non-synced (only exist in Catalyst). Click Next (or, you can choose to skip this step).
- If you chose to add a field, enter the field details.
- Click Add Object to create the additional object in Catalyst.
The object appears in the object configuration. All Catalyst users can now see this object when exploring data and managing segments. Map a primary reference field to configure more options for additional objects (see below).
Map a primary reference field
A reference field tells Catalyst which field on an object maps to the related account, contact, or opportunity object. Once set, additional objects are exposed as another view (tab) at the object-level. You can also reference contacts on the object (if available) in playbook emails and create calculated fields on the object.
- You can map multiple reference fields to one object (e.g., map a contact reference field and map an account reference field). The additional object will display a new view/tab at the object-level for each object mapped.
- You can use the same reference field on multiple objects, as appropriate. For example, if you created two additional objects for "Leads - Marketing" and "Leads - Sales," you can map the same account reference for both and see both of these additional objects as new views/tabs at the account object-level.
- Unless otherwise needed, only map a single reference field per object (e.g., Account ID or Account Name but not both).
Once a primary reference field is set, it cannot be removed.
- From the Settings side bar, click Object Configuration.
- Click on the object you want to edit.
- From the available fields, click on the field you want to associate the account object (e.g., Account ID for account objects).
A reference field will not show up as an option in this drop-down unless it is mapped to another field in Catalyst.
- Click Update.
The related view (tab) will now be visible at the object-level with which you associated the fields (e.g., an account reference field adds a new view/tab at the account level; an opportunity reference field adds a new view/tab on the opportunity object level; a contact reference field adds a new view/tab at the contact object level.)
