Who can use this feature?
- All roles with access level "standard" or higher
- Available on all plans
Subtasks allow you to break down large pieces of work into smaller items (e.g., tasks within a task). Each subtask can have different assignees and due dates, which helps you track the overall progress of the parent task.
Create a subtask
- From within a task, click +Create Subtask.
The parent task must be associated with an object before you can create subtasks.
- Enter the subtask information. Subtasks are saved automatically. Subtask notifications are handled the same way as parent tasks.
- When finished, click ⬅ [parent task name] to return to the original task.
Or use the carousel (upper right/left arrows) to page through each subtask.
The new task is added to the list of subtasks; the progress bar automatically updates to indicate the number of subtasks completed out of all subtasks.
The order of subtasks is determined automatically. Open subtasks are based on the task that was last updated; completed subtasks move to the bottom of the list.
Visualize subtasks
Find subtasks within task segments and dashboard modules. You can choose how to differentiate a subtask using the Group Subtasks check box.
- Checked: Subtasks display at the same level as parent tasks (flat). The name of the subtask appears first, followed by the name of the parent task. Any filters applied will apply to both subtasks and parent tasks.
- Not checked: Subtasks are indented below their parent task (nested). Any filters applied will apply only to the parent tasks.
