Who can use this feature?
- All roles with access level "standard" or higher
- Available on all plans
When you edit any field in Catalyst that syncs back to Salesforce, Catalyst checks the field level rules on that field prior to saving to Catalyst and Salesforce. If the new value does not meet the Salesforce rule, Catalyst will indicate an error in several areas:
- A red X appears next to the value, in addition to a banner notification (lower left of screen)
- The Notifications page includes details on the Errors tab, in addition to a red dot on sidebar bell
Read and resolve field level validation errors
The messaging for the error is based on the information provided from Salesforce at the time that the error is triggered. Validation rules are set by your Salesforce operational team for a variety of reasons (e.g., character limits, process builder, etc.). If the error messages are difficult to understand, work with your Salesforce admin to provide more descriptive messages.
- Follow the rules set in the error message to attempt a different value (if possible).
- Click on the Field Error link to see a pop up segment with the record and field that has an error.
- From this view, hover over the yellow warning icon within the cell to see the value that you inputted and the error message associated with that change.
- If you need assistance, send the full error message to your Salesforce operational team by clicking on the copy icon in the message.
